Longer term, Guilds is built toward decentralized community governance and self-sustaining operation — a free speech ecosystem where individual guilds set their own standards rather than one central authority.
Art Deco once gave modernity a sense of glamour, confidence, and permanence. Its bold geometry, lavish materials, and fascination with machinery created a style that felt both futuristic and timeless. Today, as architecture and design become increasingly minimal, uniform, and disposable, perhaps there is room to reconsider what Art Deco still has to offer. What might a modern resurgence look like? Not simply a return to the 1920s, but a reinterpretation using contemporary materials, sustainable technology, and present-day needs. Could its symmetry, ornament, and dramatic vertical forms restore character to public buildings, apartments, transit stations, and commercial spaces? Art Deco raises a broader question about what we want our cities and surroundings to express. Should design merely be efficient, or should it also inspire wonder and civic pride?
