1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or otherwise using Guilds (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Guilds. By creating an account you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and promptly update it if it changes. You may delete your account at any time from Settings.
4. User Content
You retain ownership of the Discussion Hall posts, Manuscripts, images, and other content you submit (“User Content”). By posting, you grant Guilds a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, and display that content for the purpose of operating the Service. If you delete your account, your Manuscripts (long-form written work) and any replies beneath them are permanently deleted; Discussion Hall posts, comments, and images remain attributed to a generic “Account Deleted” author so that conversations others took part in stay intact.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to post or engage in:
- Content that is illegal, or that facilitates illegal activity
- Doxxing or publishing another person’s private information without consent
- Harassment, threats, or targeted abuse of other members
- Spam, or coordinated inauthentic activity
- Evasion of a ban or other moderation action
6. Moderation
Guilds moderates on integrity grounds only — the categories above — never on the basis of viewpoint or opinion. Reports are reviewed by Masters and Guild Founders within the guild where the content was posted. Content removal and account bans are logged to a public, permanent Moderation Log for that guild. Bans require a second Guild Founder or admin to confirm before taking effect.
7. Intellectual Property
The Guilds name, logo, and platform software are owned by Guilds and its creators. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to that intellectual property beyond what is needed to use the Service normally.
8. Copyright (DMCA) Notices
This is a separate legal process from the community moderation described in Section 6, which covers integrity issues only. If you believe content on Guilds infringes your copyright, or you want to submit a counter-notice for content removed on that basis, see our

9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, following the moderation process described above.
10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. Guilds is not liable for User Content posted by other members, or for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Information We Collect
We try to collect as little as reasonably possible to run the Service. What we hold falls into four groups:
- Account information. Your email address, which our authentication provider holds so you can sign in and recover your account, and a record that you confirmed you are 18 or older together with the date you confirmed it. You enter your date of birth at signup only so we can check the requirement in Section 2 — the date of birth itself is not stored (see Section 2).
- Content and activity you create. Discussion Hall posts, Manuscripts, comments, uploaded images and their captions and dimensions, reactions, saved items, guild memberships, follows, badges, and any reports you submit to moderators.
- Technical information collected automatically.When you use the Service, we and our infrastructure providers receive your IP address, browser and device information (such as your browser’s user-agent string), and basic request details. We use these to operate and secure the Service and to prevent abuse — for example, short-lived counters keyed to an IP address enforce sign-up and posting rate limits.
- Cookies and tokens. Essential cookies set by our authentication provider keep you signed in. We also set one first-party cookie that remembers whether you arrived from a referral link, for about 30 days. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Images are stored as you upload them and may retain metadata embedded in the file (such as EXIF data, which can include camera or location details). Remove any metadata you consider sensitive before uploading. The Account Analytics view on your Notices page is calculated entirely from the data above about your own account — it does not involve collecting anything new.
13. How We Use It
We use the information above to operate your account and show your own content and activity back to you (including Account Analytics); enforce the 18+ requirement; keep the platform working and secure, including detecting spam and abuse; send you account-related emails such as email verification and password resets; diagnose and fix crashes through error monitoring; and contact you about your account when necessary. Your date of birth is checked only at signup and is not retained. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
14. Cookies & Tracking
The only cookies we use are the essential authentication cookies that keep you signed in and the first-party referral-attribution cookie described above. We do not embed third-party advertising networks, cross-site trackers, or analytics SDKs, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
15. Service Providers We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the Service run, and only so they can operate it on our behalf:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file-storage provider. It stores your account, your content, and your uploaded images, and its authentication service sends account emails such as verification, password reset, and email-change messages.
- Vercel — our hosting and content-delivery provider. It processes each request to the Service and keeps operational server logs, which can include IP addresses and request metadata, for reliability and security.
- Sentry — our error-monitoring provider. When something crashes, it receives a diagnostic report with technical context such as the browser and operating system and where the error occurred, to help us fix it. It is not configured to attach your IP address or identity to these reports.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, as described in Section 19.
16. Data Storage, Security & International Processing
Your data is stored with Supabase using industry-standard security practices. Our providers — Supabase, Vercel, and Sentry — are based in the United States, and your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where they or their sub-processors operate. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information. Note that uploaded images are served from public URLs and are accessible to anyone who has the link.
17. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. Anti-abuse rate-limit counters are short-lived. Error reports and our providers’ server logs are retained only as long as those providers keep them for operational and security purposes.
You can review, update, or delete your information at any time from Settings. Deleting your account takes effect immediately: it removes your profile and the memberships, reactions, saved items, follows, and badges tied to it, and permanently deletes your Manuscripts and the replies beneath them. As described in Section 4, your Discussion Hall posts, comments, and uploaded images remain so that conversations others took part in stay intact, but are no longer linked to your identity.
The login credentials held by our authentication provider — your email address and password — are retained after deletion, for account-integrity and abuse-prevention purposes (for example, to uphold moderation actions and prevent ban evasion). They are not shown to other members or used for any other purpose.
18. Moderation Records
Reports you submit are shared with the moderators of the guild where the content was posted. Moderation actions — content removals and bans — are recorded in a public, permanent Moderation Log for that guild, as described in Section 6. These log entries are not deleted, including after an account is deleted (where they then reference the departed account as “Account Deleted”), so that the integrity record of what was moderated, and why, remains available.
19. Legal Disclosures
We may access, preserve, or disclose information when we reasonably believe it is required by law or legal process, or is necessary to enforce these Terms, respond to illegal content or abuse, or protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the Service and its members.
