Welcome
Guilds is a community-driven platform for discussion with minimal algorithmic manipulation — not one built to maximize engagement. It includes discussions, photos, questions, and long-form articles styled as “Manuscripts.”
Longer term, Guilds is built toward decentralized community governance and self-sustaining operation — a free speech ecosystem where individual guilds set their own standards rather than one central authority.
“Alchemy is the union of the Sun and Moon. This takes place in man when the heart and mind are joined in eternal union. It occurs when the positive and negative poles within are united, and from that union is made the ‘Philosopher’s Stone.’” - Manly P. Hall The Hermetic Marriage does not describe the union of two separate people, but the reconciliation of the opposing forces within man himself. The Sun represents the active, rational and commanding principle. The Moon represents the intuitive, emotional and receptive. Neither is complete alone. Reason without the heart becomes cold and lifeless, while emotion without reason becomes blind and easily carried away. The goal is not for one side to destroy the other. It is for both to be brought into their proper balance. Hall describes this as “the marriage of the body and the spirit for the mutual development of each other.” This is the true work of alchemy. Man is both the substance being transformed and the alchemist carrying out the transformation. His inner divisions must be reconciled, his lower nature brought under command and his scattered faculties united toward a single purpose. From this union is formed the Philosopher’s Stone. Not some physical object hidden in a laboratory, but the completed man: one whose heart and mind no longer pull him in opposing directions. Thus, the Philosopher’s Stone is not something man discovers outside himself: It is what he is to become.
