Guilds is a community-driven platform for discussion with minimal algorithmic manipulation — not one built to maximize engagement. It includes discussions, photos, questions, and long-form articles styled as “Manuscripts.”
Longer term, Guilds is built toward decentralized community governance and self-sustaining operation — a free speech ecosystem where individual guilds set their own standards rather than one central authority.
The men on both sides of Appomattox unironically had more respect for each other then they ever would for modern leftist. Union General Joshua Chamberlain (my favorite commander of the war) even made his men stand at attention and salute the recently vanquished confederate army as they marched by. He would later say of that moment - "For us they were fellow-soldiers as well, suffering the fate of arms. We could not look into those brave, bronzed faces, and those battered flags we had met on so many fields where glorious manhood lent a glory to the earth that bore it, and think of personal hate and mean revenge." Confederate General John B. Gordon, depicted above, who was tasked with surrendering the armies arms to Chamberlain, would call the General "one of the knightliest soldiers of the Federal Army" Respect all around, don't let people with no blood connection to the conflict create a false narrative of OUR history.
