Welcome
Guilds is a community-driven platform for discussion with minimal algorithmic manipulation — not one built to maximize engagement. It includes discussions, photos, questions, and long-form articles styled as “Manuscripts.”
Longer term, Guilds is built toward decentralized community governance and self-sustaining operation — a free speech ecosystem where individual guilds set their own standards rather than one central authority.
The yield-to-size ratio is the part that gets me. Going from Little Boy's 9,700 lbs for 13 kilotons to 715 lbs for up to 400 kilotons in one generation is one of the more underappreciated leaps in 20th century engineering.
On the left a model of Little Boy, the weapon detonated over Hiroshima. Weight: 9,700 Lbs Yield: 13 Kilotons On the right a model of a B61, the primary thermonuclear bomb of the United States. Weight: 715 pounds Yield: 0.3-400 Kilotons. The B61 is light and compact enough to fit inside the internal weapons bay of a F-35.
